Position Title: Field Health and Safety Advisor
Reports To: Health and Safety Specialist
Location: Grande Prairie, AB
General Accountabilities:
The Field Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for collaboratively working with operational staff across CSV’s 5 existing facilities as well as the new Albright gas plant. The Field Health and Safety Advisor will place a high emphasis on building a positive safety culture and community for all CSV employees and contractors and work with operations to ensure on-site effective implementation and maintenance of the CSV Safety Management System. The Field Safety Advisor will observe and understand current site operations, equipment and procedures to identify improvement opportunities to current practices.
Key Accountabilities:
The Field Health and Safety Advisor will be accountable for the following:
Primary responsibilities include:
- Complete the leading and lagging indicator reporting, including guidance and coaching to operations staff as needed.
- Review and audit safety inspections completed by Operations.
- Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
- Assist with Safe Work Practices, SOP/COP review and development.
- Work with operations to ensure issuing/receiving and closing of safe work permits, hot work permits, confined space etc. are administered and managed.
- Work with operations to administer and manage safety orientations.
- Solicit confirmation of site training requirements (ticket validation).
- Work with operations to Audit the Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) system and ensure proper procedures are followed (per COPs and SOPs) and documentation managed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
- Ensure establishment of adequate control processes and implementation per local regulations and CSV expectations. This may include:
- Support assessments of CSVs safety management systems
- Support risk assessments to ensure health and safety risks are properly understood and addressed.
- Support and / or participate in investigations and follow-up of incidents.
- Develop safety related lessons learned for sharing across the corporation.
- Actively identify improvement opportunities within all areas of safety / health / security and emergency preparedness
Additional responsibilities include:
- Act as the on-site liaison between on-site operations and the Corporate Safety Team (and Construction Safety Team when required) through the effective communication of all site safety concerns, incident trends, implementation of corrective actions and safety performance.
- Assess compliance with the applicable safety codes, procedures, relevant documentation, and commitments.
- Participate in the investigation of safety, environmental and regulatory incidents working to improve and ensure compliance at the work location
- Conduct or participate in Safety meetings and reports (i.e. jobsite inspection reports, incident/accident reports, tailgate meetings, JHSC meetings and weekly/monthly meetings and associated sign-in and documentation) and encourage worker and field supervisor participation
- Ensure and assist with communication of identified concerns and facilitate the appropriate signoff upon resolution. If appropriate, communicate learnings (ie. safety bulletin, safety meeting discussion etc.)
- Conduct regular inspections/walkabouts to ensure compliance with all legislation and company policies, standards, procedures and rules.
- Assist in satisfying all requirements of the Safety Management System.
- Support operations and functional management in the achievement of corporate initiatives.
- Assist the Operations Team with general, pre-job and regular safety meetings where practical. Supply information and provide guidance regarding meeting structure and content
- Assist in the maintenance of emergency response plans, standards, procedures and site-specific work plans.
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, NCSO, and/or a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST). A Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation (CRSP) is considered an asset.
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have:
- An understanding of oil and gas plant facilities, pipeline construction, and the operations industry. Experience with Gas Processing Plants is a key asset
- An understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes and how it pertains to daily field tasks.
- The ability to effectively lead teams.
- The ability to represent the Company in front of CSV workers in a professional and courteous manner.
- The ability to effectively communicate in large crowd settings.
- The ability to maintain a professional attitude in high pressure settings.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Position Title: Lead Gas Plant Operator
Reports To: Gas Plant Coordinator
Location: Albright Gas Plant
General Accountabilities:
Albright is located near the communities of Beaverlodge and Wembley. The Albright Gas Plant will serve the growing sour natural gas processing needs of multiple producers with Montney and Charlie Lake production in the region and will significantly enhance CSV’s existing platform of natural gas processing infrastructure in Alberta’s prolific Montney play. With natural gas processing capacity of 150 million cubic feet per day, Albright will also recover and conserve up to 370 tonnes of sulphur per day and will be the first greenfield gas plant with sulphur recovery to be constructed in Alberta in nearly 30 years. Completion is expected in late 2024.
The Lead Gas Plant Operator will be responsible for assisting the Plant Coordinator in all aspects of plant production, and maintenance, as well as providing direction to the Gas Plant Operators.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to Gas Plant Operators
- Ensure tasks and job functions are current and effective
- Oversee and ensure all plant processes and process changes
- Ensure employees comply with CSV’s safety protocols
- Ensure employees follow CSV’s reporting requirements for incidents, near misses, hazard identifications etc.
- Support and/or ensure alignment with maintenance procedures and management of change processes
- Review and complete plant inspections
- Model and work with a safety conscious attitude
- Ensure all required sampling is being completed
- Review and maintain steam and operator logs required by ABSA and AER regulators
- Review invoicing
- Work with management to control expenditures and create budgets
- Work with Engineering to implement required Management of Change requirements and any changes requiring programming assistance

Education and Experience requirements:
The successful candidate will have a 1st class steam ticket and a minimum of 10-15 years’ experience working in a gas plant.
In addition, the successful candidate will have:
- Ideally, an excellent working knowledge of the following, but not limited to: Natural Gas Compression, Gas Sweetening, Refrigeration, Sulfur Recovery, Condensate Stabilization, Steam Generation, and Water Treatment systems
- Proficiency with Emerson Delta-V Automation systems is an asset

Position Title: Gas Plant Shift Lead
Reports To: Lead Gas Plant Operator
Location: Albright Gas Plant

The Gas Plant Shift Lead works under general direction from the Lead Gas Plant Operator and/or the Plant Coordinator and has the knowledge, experience and required skills to operate all plant equipment and processes safely and effectively at the Albright Gas Plant. The Gas Plant Shift Lead will monitor and review plant processes, operate equipment and recognize potential plant operational problems. The incumbent will take preventive and/or remedial actions to ensure production and safety goals are met in accordance with CSV Midstream’s standards.
Key Accountabilities:
The Gas Plant Shift Lead will be accountable for the following responsibilities:
- Is fully competent as a Gas Plant Shift Lead in the startup, shut down and operation of the gas plant facility. Closely monitor plant levels, pressures, temperatures, and flows, relaying any deviations as required.
- Understands control room functions and activities including monitoring field and gas plant processes through communication and on-site surveillance. Make appropriate decisions to adjust levels, pressures, temperatures and flows as needed, including to start up or shut down equipment to maintain operating efficiencies and production nominations.
- Maintains ongoing production logs to ensure key communications between operating shifts.
- Maintains awareness of shut down schedules with maintenance and contractors to minimize production loss and maximize process efficiency.
- Coordinates process adjustments and changes with senior operating staff, to establish design parameters and set criteria for good operating practice.
- Understands and troubleshoots process upsets, taking corrective action as needed.
- Makes accurate judgements on starting and stopping rotating equipment to maintain overall production efficiency when placing them on-line or off-line.
- Understands and maintains all design limit control devices in an operational and functional manner.
- Takes immediate corrective action in any process deviation to maintain facility integrity and efficiency.
- Assists with the preparation of overhauls and routine maintenance projects as needed.
- Performs water / lab testing.
- Can recognize and safely remove hydrates.
- Performs routine surveillance on plant operations in a timely fashion.
- Accurately traces process flows according to facility drawings.
- Accurately records and relates process deviations according to log sheet readings.
- Conducts all activities following Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
- Uphold CSV’s values and place a focus on safety.

Education and Experience requirements:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2nd class steam ticket and 8 years’ experience working in a gas plant.
In addition, the successful candidate will have:

Position Title: Mechanical Technician
Reports To: Plant Coordinator
Location: Albright Gas Plant
General Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Plant Coordinator, the Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing the Albright Gas Plant with day-to-day support for the rotating equipment at the facility.
Albright is located near the communities of Beaverlodge and Wembley. The Albright Gas Plant will serve the growing sour natural gas processing needs of multiple producers with Montney and Charlie Lake production in the region and will significantly enhance CSV’s existing platform of natural gas processing infrastructure in Alberta’s prolific Montney play. Key Accountabilities:
The Mechanical Technician will:
- Assist operations with optimization and troubleshooting of engines, compressors, pumps and motors.
- Provide technical support on new projects and management of change (MOC);
- Assist with installation, commissioning, start up, and maintenance of new equipment.
- Assist in completing rotating equipment services and overhauls.
- Apply knowledge of gas compression packages (panels, controls, instrumentation, and package operation) and engine/compressor component life cycles to optimize equipment run times.
- Interpret flow sheets and drawings.
- Demonstrate an understanding of mounting and alignment, commissioning, package operations, mechanical components, instrumentation, and electronics.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot engine compressor problems.
- Verify all proper settings and adjustments (alignment, pull-downs, rod run out, ESM, fuel gas pressure and settings, crankcase pressure, flange torquing, cooler checks, etc.);
- Order parts as necessary.
- Experienced in the overhaul, maintenance and repair of Waukesha and Caterpillar engines as well as Ariel, Dresser Rand, Worthington, Roflo, Frick, and Gemini compressors.
- Experienced in ignition and instrumentation panels would be an asset.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in package start-up and commissioning.
- Perform repairs, modifications, and new parts installations on existing equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment per the schedule and work instructions provided.
- Participate in the installation of new plant equipment.
- Assist the maintenance planner with scheduling/planning of routine and non-routine services, overhauls and repairs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience requirements:
- Journeyperson (red seal) Heavy-Duty Mechanic
- 5+ years’ experience working in a gas plant.
- 5+ years’ experience with Waukesha, Caterpillar, and natural gas-driven compression
- Vibration training is considered an asset.
- Oil sampling and analysis are considered an asset.
- Experience in a pipeline transfer station, gas plant or facility operations is highly desired.
- Ability to troubleshoot motor, compressor and pump problems effectively.

- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

The Gas Plant Shift Lead will monitor and review plant processes, operate equipment and recognize potential plant operational problems. The incumbent will take preventive and/or remedial actions to ensure production and safety goals are met in accordance with CSV’s standards.
The CSV Karr Gas Plant is a 3rd class facility located approximately 70km South of Grande Prairie. The shift lead will work a 7-day on/7 days off cycle, alternating days and nights, consisting of 12-hour shifts. The Karr gas plant is off-grid and powered by two Siemens Natural Gas turbines. Sour gas is processed using Amine trains, refrigeration and dehydration units. Please note that this is not a camp position. Must be willing to relocate to Grande Prairie if not already living in the area.

- experience with natural gas compression, refrigeration, Dehydration, Amine and condensate stabilization
- familiarity with all aspects of the operations and established procedures
- familiarity with work order programs and SCADA related programs
- a Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
